Faith Statement

Our MISSION -

To invite people in our spheres of influence to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ, who exercise faith, extend love, and dare to be a hope-giving influence in the world.

Our CORE BELIEFS -

The Bible
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it bears. It is for all to read so we may know and understand God's will for us. No other writings are vested with such divine authority.

The Triune God
As the Bible teaches, there is one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each possessing all the attributes of Deity.

God the Father
He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and will provide for all the needs of our bodies and souls. He is all-present, all-powerful, all-knowing, and without sin.

God the Son
Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and has been with the Father throughout eternity. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplishes salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between us and God. He will return to earth to consummate history and fulfill the eternal plan of God.

God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son, draws sinners to Christ, and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. He is the ‘other comforter,' God with us and God in us to lead, teach, and guide.

Human Beings
All people are created in God's image and matter deeply to Him. Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people, and He invites them to live in communion with Himself and in community with each other. However, we are by nature sinful and cannot make ourselves right with God. We can only be brought into a right relationship with God through God's saving grace in Jesus Christ—not by human effort—which must be received personally by repentance and faith.

The Church
The church is not a building but a people who believe in Jesus Christ. All believers are members of the body of Christ, the one true church universal. Spiritual unity is to be expressed among Christians by acceptance and love of one another across ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, national, generational, gender, and denominational lines. The local church is a congregation of believers who gather for worship, prayer, instruction, encouragement, mutual accountability, and community with each other. Through it, believers invest time, energy, and resources to fulfill the Great Commission—reaching lost people and growing them into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

The Sacraments
We affirm the sacraments of baptism and communion as instituted by Jesus. These sacraments are visible signs of God's invisible grace.

Our Standards
We affirm the historical truth of the Apostle's Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasian Creed, Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. These standards, which are subject to the evaluation of Scripture, are useful for teaching and Christian nurture.

Our Connection
We are a new ministry supported by Gun Lake Community Church and a part of the Reformed Church in America (RCA), one of the oldest denominations on this continent. To belong to a Reformed Church is to be a part of a warm progressive, nationwide family of Christians.
